Roger Federer this weekend has been shrugging off a mistranslation from French, which made him sound critical of teammate Stanislas Wawrinka.
Federer’s calm analysis of his doubles defeat alongside his Beijing Olympic gold medal partner was: “I played a good doubles, and Stan not a bad one.” But once the remark was translated into English the “not a bad one” incorrectly became “a bad one.” Federer said that although there were issues, everything has now been resolved.
“The Stan comment was taken completely the wrong way. I’d never say that, and I’ll move on quickly. I spoke with both (captain) Severin (Luthi) and Stan to make sure there is no misunderstanding.”
